Ode to Chelsea Rose
Chelsea Rose died very young after a very full life with a tragic end. She was described by many as full of energy directing her own, sometimes prickly, pathway. This rose was made along with two others for her parents and aunt. The rose is cut from corregated metal found in the field, cut and shaped. The stem is ⅜ ” rebar shaped to show her internal strength. The thorns portray her prickliness and are antique nails I pulled out of an old collapsed log cabin and others found by a loving relative, Nancy Ward, in Payson, Arizona.

Davio and Dog
A friend, mentor and artist, Winky, said to me"I want a horse in my yard". But then she said the horse was lonesome. He needs a friend.
Davio was her horse as a teenager. Winky is 90+. David Oswald, an artist, offered me some of the materials for this piece and therefore the name, Davio. The horse has a spring in his neck and tail allowing movement in the wind. The armature is partially made from an auditorium chair retrieved from the Columbia College in Columbia, MO. Dog was designed with the intention of displaying eliptical shapes. Together they stand in Winky's yard in front of her family home in Pleasant Green, MO, built in 1829.

Nameless #9
This abstraction, in mounted in the Ashby-Hodge Sculpture Garden at Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. The students complete=d to name the horse and the winning choice was "Fender Bender". Fender Benders portrays a state of content and motion while grazing. Most of its components come from of Danny Brown's VW Beatle graveyard. Hidden inside the thorax is a metal cat offered by Bonnie Zimmerman.
The strengths of this piece are color, motion and peace with little concern for the chaos in this world.
