Most of my enjoyment comes from the seeing the image develop. I start with a simple drawing/concept and then allow the image to emerge. I compare my work to that of an writer developing a novel where the characters seem to drive the story. I must admit that with the aid of my wife the end result may take a few pathways before completion.
The bird nest started with a single finish nail in a modified wok coated with kilm material allowing me to weld and form the nails into a basket shape. Start the slide show.

Building the Horse projects entails 6 phases. First is the conceptual form and drawing. Second is building the armature which is just like a skeleton. Third is engineering so as to allow the horse to be balanced to stand on its own. Fourth is the form. I believe the most important part of the armature is the neck and head which definitely identifies the structure as a horse. Fifth is the covering/clothing which like most of us covers all our subsurface defects. And finally, sixth is placement and grounding it so as to avoid wind related catastrophes.
